TYPE OF INTERPRETING

INTERPRETER (Level 3 NAATI)
  • Interpreting in both language directions for a wide range of subject areas usually involving specialist consultations with other professionals, e.g. doctor/patient, solicitor/client, bank manager/client, court interpreting.
  • Interpreting in situations where a depth of linguistic ability in both languages is necessary.
CONFERENCE INTERPRETER
(Level 4 NAATI)
  • Tasks involving international conferences, diplomatic missions, foreign trade and other high level negotiations.
  • Tasks involving complex court proceedings.
  • Interpreting in situations where depth of linguistic ability in both the language directions is demanded.
  • Work In a sound-proof booth with direct view onto the conference room, the interpreter listens to a speaker through earphones and simultaneously transmits the message in another language through a microphone to listeners in the room.
CONFERENCE INTERPRETER (SENIOR)
(Level 5 NAATI)
  • Interpreting tasks as for Conference Interpreters.
  • Tasks involving the organisation of international conferences.
  • Providing advice for interpreting services within and outside Australia.
  • Terminologist.
CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETER
(International Level)
  • Seated at the conference table, the interpreter listens to a speech, takes notes and then renders the meaning of the speaker's message in another language.
WISPERING INTERPRETER
(International Level)
  • Seated in the meeting room the interpreter whispers in another language to a maximum of two delegates what is being said by the other party.

LEVEL OF ACCREDITATION

INTERPRETER (Level 3 NAATI)
This represents the minimum level of competence for professional interpreting. It may be regarded as the Australian professional standard for community interpreters are capable of interpreting across a wide range of subject areas involving dialogues during specialist consultations. They are also capable of interpreting short presentations.
CONFERENCE INTERPRETER
(Level 4 NAATI)
This represents the advanced professional level and a level of competence sufficient to handle complex and technical subjects.Conference Interpreters practise both consecutive and simultaneous interpret in diverse situations including conferences, high-level negotiations, and court proceedings. Conference interpreters operate at levels compatible with recognised international standards.



CONFERENCE INTERPRETER (SENIOR)
(Level 5 NAATI)
This is the highest level of NAATI accreditation and reflects both competence and experience. It represents an international standard together with demonstrated extensive experience and leadership.

Rates and fees do not include Goods and Services Tax.

Fees are payable 14 days after presentation of invoice to approved clients.

Simultaneous and Consecutive Interpreting fees are payable on completion of assignment.

All payments are to be made in Australian Dollars, unless otherwise stipulated.

Note: Cancellation fee of 50% may apply.
